Women's AFCON 2026: a postponement is taking shape

The immediate future of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations now appears shrouded in uncertainty. Originally scheduled from March 17 to April 3 in Morocco, the tournament may ultimately be postponed, according to several reports circulating in recent days. For now, there has been no official communication from CAF, but preparations by the teams involved remain on hold as everyone awaits a final decision.

This potential change comes as the continental body had only recently insisted that the calendar would remain unchanged. On February 13, its president Patrice Motsepe publicly declared that "a postponement was out of the question". Yet, several sources now say that internal discussions are underway that could lead to a rescheduling of the final phase.
