2026 World Cup: Bruno Fernandes faces harsh criticism in Portugal

In recent hours, Bruno Fernandes has been forced to disable replies to his social media posts after becoming the target of a barrage of insults following Portugal’s elimination from this 2026 World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes posted a message expressing his frustration and gratitude towards his teammates, coaching staff, and supporters, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s fans pointed the finger at him. They also targeted other midfielders like Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Pedro Neto, accusing them of “sabotaging” the Portuguese star’s match in the 1-1 draw against DR Congo in the group stage.

The controversy was further fueled by Katia Aveiro, Ronaldo’s sister, who “liked” a post accusing Fernandes of falling short and comparing him to Raphinha. Meanwhile, on X and Instagram, countless users intensified accusations of selfishness and sabotage.
