The topic sparked plenty of debate, but Corentin Tolisso insists he has come to terms with it.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday following the extension of his contract with OL, Corentin Tolisso was asked about the impact of not being called up for the 2026 World Cup after an outstanding season at club level.

"I got over it very quickly. I was able to go on holiday with my family and friends, and in the end, maybe it was a blessing in disguise. I don't know how many matches I would have played if I'd been selected. Maybe I wouldn't have played at all, but I certainly wouldn't have had a break with all the training. This way, I got some rest, had my six weeks of vacation, and now I have some very important challenges with my club. OL is the priority right now. In the end, it's just destiny. If I wasn't meant to go, then I wasn't meant to go. It allowed me to recharge and, hopefully, be sharp and ready for the first play-off match at the beginning of August," he said.
