2026 World Cup: Gianni Infantino gives a sarcastic response to ticket prices

In just five weeks, the 2026 World Cup will kick off. But the sky-high ticket prices for matches are still leaving many fans in doubt. Gianni Infantino let loose in the past few hours.

Just days before the 2026 World Cup, ticket prices are soaring to astronomical levels. Some have been found at €11,000 for the final on official resale sites. Yesterday, at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills (United States), Gianni Infantino tried to calm things down. He defended the pricing.

"We have to look at the market. We are in a market where the entertainment industry is the most developed in the world. That’s why we have to set market prices. In the United States, you can’t even attend a college game—let alone a top-level professional match—for less than $300. This is the World Cup. If you sell tickets at too low a price, those tickets will be resold for much more. If some people are offering tickets for the final for two million dollars on the resale market, it doesn’t mean the tickets actually cost two million dollars, and it doesn’t mean someone will buy them. If someone does buy one, I’ll personally bring them a hot dog and a Coke to make sure they have an amazing experience.", declared the FIFA president.
