After netting a brace against England (4-6) on Saturday in the third-place play-off of this 2026 World Cup, Kylian Mbappé is now the all-time top scorer in the tournament's history.

The Frenchman now has a total of 22 goals, one more than Lionel Messi. Kylian Mbappé believes his record won't stand for long, since the Argentine plays tonight against Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.

"Leo Messi, he scores all the time. Tomorrow (in the final against Spain), he'll score, I'm sure of it. I just try to help my team score. When you score that many goals in the World Cup, it puts you in a different league. But honestly, I'd rather not be the tournament's top scorer and be playing in tomorrow's match. It's good for the legacy, for when I retire, to be able to say I was one of those players, but it's not the first thing on my mind today," said the French striker.
