2026 World Cup: Mexico brings in robot dogs, the stated goal

Mexico is one of the three host countries for the 2026 World Cup. To ensure security during the tournament, the country has opted for robot dogs.

The 2026 World Cup will kick off in Canada, the United States, and Mexico starting June 11. The three nations are already preparing their security measures. Authorities in Guadalupe, a city in the northeast of the country where the Estadio BBVA is located—a stadium set to host four tournament matches—have just announced the deployment of robot dogs.

In fact, the municipality of Guadalupe spent 120,000 euros on these machines, which will be deployed in case of unrest. The goal is to assist police by intervening first to protect the physical safety of officers. Equipped with loudspeakers, these robots are remotely controlled by an officer and transmit live footage to law enforcement.
