For several days now, the Senegalese press has been exposing a series of dysfunctions within the medical staff, unpaid bonuses, and chaotic organization. In the latest development, Sport News Africa has revealed another episode highlighting the struggles faced by the Lions during the tournament. Insurance management has also come under fire.

According to reports, neither the players, the coaching staff, nor any other delegation members were insured during the World Cup, as the Senegalese Federation had not arranged coverage to protect those under its responsibility. This situation directly impacted Édouard Mendy after he suffered a knee injury against Norway on matchday two of the group stage. Forced to undergo an MRI to assess the severity of his injury, the Senegalese goalkeeper had to cover the cost of the procedure himself—a particularly expensive ordeal in the United States.
