Sudan make a strong start. Thanks to a valuable 1-0 victory over Ethiopia, the Jediane Falcons move top of Group J after the first matchday of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Eisa sends Sudan top in the 86th minute

In a match that remained tight for a long time, it took until the 86th minute for Mohamed Eisa to score the only goal of the match and secure three crucial points for Sudan.

Senegal caught out, Sudan take advantage

This victory allows Sudan to fully capitalize on Senegal’s slip-up, held to a 1-1 draw by Mozambique in Maputo in Patrick Vieira’s first match in charge of the Lions. In the standings, Sudan therefore move into sole possession of first place.
