The job is done for Zambia. At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, the Chipolopolo beat Togo 2-0 and move into second place in Group I in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Kangwanda and Mandanji make the difference

Zambia did not take long. In the 2nd minute, Albert Kangwanda opened the scoring to give the hosts the perfect start.

The Sparrowhawks tried to fight back, but the Chipolopolo held firm before extending their lead in stoppage time through Eliya Mandanji in the 90th+5 minute.

Zambia bounce back, Togo stumble

Beaten 1-3 by Algeria in their opening match, the Chipolopolo have bounced back in fine style and climbed into second place. After beating Burundi 1-0 at Stade de Kégué on the opening matchday, the Sparrowhawks have now fallen. Patrice Neveu’s team are now third in the standings.

Earlier in the day, Burundi held Algeria to a 2-2 draw. The Fennecs are top of the group after this second matchday.
