No winner in Meknes. At the Stade d’Honneur in Morocco, Tanzania and Madagascar drew 1-1 after a closely contested encounter. A draw that already complicates both teams’ qualification campaigns in Group L of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Fontaine responds to Kachwele

The Taifa Stars took the lead just before half-time through Cyprian Kachwele in the 39th minute. But Barea responded after the break.

In the 50th minute, Nicolas Fontaine equalised for Madagascar, scoring his first goal for the national team for the player of... A goal that brought Madagascar level, without giving them the lead.

An already undecided Group L

This result suits neither side. Beaten 1-2 by Nigeria on the opening matchday, Barea remain in difficulty. The same applies to the Taifa Stars, who had lost 0-2 to Guinea-Bissau. Meanwhile, the Bissau-Guineans lead Nigeria’s Super Eagles 1-0. The winner of that match will move into sole possession of first place in Group L.
