2027 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers: Mustapha Ghorbal appointed to referee the Ivory Coast vs Ghana clash

The big clash at the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between the Ivory Coast and Ghana will be refereed by Mustapha Ghorbal. CAF has selected an experienced referee for this high-profile Group C fixture.

The match is scheduled for 24 September at 7.00 pm GMT at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké. The Côte d’Ivoire v Ghana clash is already shaping up to be a heated affair and will be in the hands of Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal.

An old acquaintance of the Elephants

Ghorbal knows Côte d’Ivoire well. In Bouaké, it will be the sixth time the Algerian referee has taken charge of a match involving the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire. The 41-year-old has a wealth of experience from the Africa Cup of Nations, African club competitions and, most recently, the World Cup in the United States.

A whole team from Algeria

Ghorbal will not be coming to Bouaké alone. He is arriving with his entire team. Abbes Zerhouni and Gourani Mokrane will be his assistant referees, whilst Loutfi Bekouassa will act as the fourth official. A 100 per cent Algerian quartet to kick off the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign for the Elephants and the Black Stars.
