2030 World Cup: Six countries have already punched their ticket! (Official)

FIFA has granted automatic qualification to the six nations involved in the unique hosting arrangement for the 2030 World Cup.

The qualifiers for the 2030 World Cup haven’t even started yet, but six countries already know their fate. Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay are officially qualified.

Three main host nations

Morocco, Spain, and Portugal will stage the bulk of the tournament. With their joint bid selected by FIFA, the three countries receive the traditional automatic berth given to hosts. For Morocco, it’s a historic first World Cup on home soil.

Three centenary spots

The automatic berths for Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay follow a different logic. These three South American nations will each host a commemorative match to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup.

The symbolism will be especially powerful in Uruguay, the original host and winner of the inaugural 1930 tournament. A match is scheduled at the legendary Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.

A completely unprecedented setup

These six qualifications are not the result of on-the-pitch performance—they stem solely from host or co-host status. The 2030 World Cup will thus kick off with representatives from three confederations: one African nation, two European, and three South American countries.

Unless there is a later change, the tournament will keep its 48-team format. The potential expansion to 64 teams remains just a proposal for now and hasn’t been officially adopted.
