A headache is stirring within the Algeria squad

Despite an impressive Africa Cup of Nations campaign with the Algeria national football team, Hicham Boudaoui is currently going through a rough patch at club level. Back at OGC Nice, the Algerian midfielder is struggling to reclaim a regular spot in the rotation and has been limited to a handful of late-game appearances.

This situation arises just as the next Fennecs training camp approaches, scheduled for March. Vladimir Petković’s squad is set to face the Guatemala national football team and then the Uruguay national football team as part of their preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

While Boudaoui’s importance to Algeria’s midfield balance is hardly in doubt, his lack of match rhythm at Nice raises questions. The head coach will have to decide whether to stick with this key player or turn to options who are currently in better competitive form.
