Aaron Wan-Bissaka has reached an agreement with Aston Villa

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is on the verge of joining a new Premier League club. According to Football Insider, the 28-year-old defender has reportedly reached an agreement with Aston Villa on the terms of his future contract. The two clubs still need to find common ground regarding the transfer fee.

Aston Villa step up their pursuit

The race for Wan-Bissaka has intensified in recent days. The Athletic had already revealed Villa’s interest and the existence of initial contacts with West Ham. The Congolese full-back has become a highly sought-after target since the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship. Everton and Arsenal have also been linked with his name.

Wan-Bissaka has been playing for West Ham since his move from Manchester United in the summer of 2024. He has made 65 appearances for the London club so far. His contract runs until June 2031, putting West Ham in a strong position to negotiate.

Arrival before the Champions League?

Aston Villa are coming off an excellent season, having finished fourth in the Premier League and therefore set to compete in the Champions League this season. Bringing in Wan-Bissaka would give Unai Emery an experienced English league defender who can operate as a right-back.

Aston Villa’s choice is consistent with Wan-Bissaka’s current situation. The player isn’t leaving the Premier League: he’s moving from a relegated club to a Champions League contender. From a sporting perspective, this switch could prove particularly exciting.
