AFCON 2025 final: Moroccan Prime Minister's message to Brahim Diaz

In Morocco, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch sent a message to Brahim Diaz two days after his disastrous panenka in the AFCON 2025 final.

Brahim Diaz experienced his first Africa Cup of Nations final last Sunday. This showdown against Senegal will hardly be a fond memory for Diaz, as he completely botched his panenka late in the match against Edouard Mendy. Since then, Brahim Diaz has found himself at the center of criticism.

But this Tuesday, Marca relayed statements from Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of Morocco. "I have a special message for Brahim Díaz, as I saw how deeply affected he was. In reality, he was the revelation of this tournament and its top scorer. He chose to join the national team and wear the Moroccan jersey. You didn't just join the national team, you entered the hearts of all Moroccans." said the Prime Minister.

Aziz Akhannouch went on to congratulate the national squad for their "fighting spirit" and their "obvious efforts".
