AFCON 2025: Senegal's reaction after hearing before CAS

This Thursday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) heard Senegal and Morocco regarding the 2025 AFCON final.

As a reminder, in the final, the Lions of Teranga prevailed in extra time at the end of a tense match, during which they temporarily left the pitch to protest a penalty awarded to Morocco. On March 17, the CAF Appeals Jury overturned the decision and ultimately awarded the victory to Morocco by forfeit (0-3), in accordance with Articles 82 and 84 of its regulations.

Following this decision, the Senegalese Football Federation has continued to challenge the ruling. After this Thursday's hearing, Abdoulaye Sow, secretary general of the FSF, spoke from Lausanne, Switzerland. “What we can say is that our lawyers presented our case, put forward all our observations and were heard by the arbitral panel. Now, it is up to the CAS to deliver its decision in the coming days or weeks… I cannot say what really happened, because the deliberations are confidential. But I can assure you that Senegal defended itself well,” the Senegalese official told RMC Sport.

It should be noted that Moroccans and Senegalese are prohibited from discussing Thursday's proceedings.
