The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) wants to host the match between Tunisia and Libya, counting towards the third round of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers, at Taïeb Mhiri Stadium in Sfax.

Taïeb Mhiri Stadium could host Tunisia - Libya

According to Tunisian Football Federation spokesperson Belhassen Bessamra, who appeared on the “Dimanche Sport” programme, FTF president Moez Nasri will travel to Sfax on Monday to meet with the local authorities.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to examine ways of addressing the shortcomings identified at Taïeb Mhiri Stadium and to carry out the necessary improvements to make it suitable for hosting the match between the “Carthage Eagles” and the “Knights of the Mediterranean”.

The fixture comes at a delicate time for both national teams. Tunisia began the qualifiers with a home draw against Uganda (1-1), while Libya shared the points with Botswana (2-2) in Tripoli.

On matchday two, the Carthage Eagles again drew with Botswana (2-2) at the Radès Stadium. Libya, for its part, lost away to Uganda (0-1), leaving them just one point behind in the standings.

The first leg between Tunisia and Libya is scheduled for 13 November, while the return leg will take place on 18 November. However, the official stadiums and kick-off times for the two matches have not yet been announced.
