African giants keen to bolster technical team with Wayne Sandilands

Foot Africa understands that Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic are actively working on a deal to appoint Wayne Sandilands as the club's new goalkeeper coach.

This comes after the Green Eagles abruptly dismissed Ilyes Mzoughi earlier this month, just over two weeks after the Tunisian trainer had joined the club.

The former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach had his contract terminated following the circulation of a controversial and explicit video, in which he was allegedly involved in.

It has been widely reported in North Africa that the video caused a major disruption in the Raja dressing room before a key fixture, prompting the hierarchy to pull the plug.

Now, sources have indicated that the Casablanca heavyweights have opened talks to rope in Sandilands as the goalkeeper coach, with discussions positive and progressing.

The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper is understood to be keen on a move to Morocco, where he would work under head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Notably, Sandilands is no stranger to Raja as he was part of the technical team that was spearheaded by his compatriot Fadlu Davids, who was shown the exit door last month.

Furthermore, he recently obtained his UEFA A, UEFA Elite Youth A, and UEFA Goalkeeper A Diplomas earlier this month - gaining valuable knowledge of the game.

Whether Sandilands will complete a return to Casablanca remains to be seen, with both parties optimistic of striking total agreement to swiftly seal the deal.
