Lamine Yamal responded on the pitch and then on social media to Mario Lemina, who chose humor to defuse the situation.

The banter between Mario Lemina and Lamine Yamal continued after FC Barcelona’s emphatic win away to Galatasaray (1-4) on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.

Before the match, Lemina had pretended not to know the young Spanish star, declaring: “Who is Yamal? I don’t know him. I only know Leroy Sané.” The remark clearly did not go unnoticed by the Barça player.

Yamal responds with two assists

On the pitch, Lamine Yamal delivered another top-level performance. In the Blaugrana’s 4-1 win in Istanbul, the winger provided two assists and constantly troubled the Turkish defence. After the match, he also continued the duel on social media with a message directly addressed to Lemina: “And now, do you know me?”

Since the start of the season, the Barcelona phenomenon has posted impressive statistics: 8 goals and 7 assists in 9 matches in all competitions. The figures confirm his enormous influence on Barça’s attacking play.

Lemina responds with humor

The former Olympique de Marseille player was quick to respond, but without seeking to fuel any tension. Lemina replied light-heartedly: “Of course I know you, my little boy is a fan of yours. Well done, Lamine.”

The Galatasaray midfielder accompanied his message with a photo of Lamine Yamal with his son and several amused emojis. A response that, at least for the time being, brings to a close an exchange that ultimately remained in the spirit of banter between the two players.
