Al-Ahli Saudi: Edouard Mendy Substituted Due to Injury Against Al-Khaleej

On Friday, March 7, 2025, Édouard Mendy prematurely left the field due to an injury against Al-Khaleej during the 24th round of the Saudi Pro League. The Senegalese goalkeeper of Al-Ahli was replaced by his teammate Abdulrahman Al Sandi.

The news is not good for Al Ahli and the Senegal national team. In the 42nd minute, during a seemingly innocuous play, Édouard Mendy got injured and requested to be substituted before halftime. The exact nature of his injury is not yet known, but it could be muscular. The results of medical examinations will determine the next steps. Meanwhile, concern is growing among the supporters of the Saudi club and the Lions of Teranga.

Another Headache for Pape Thiaw

This injury occurs just weeks before Senegal's matches against Sudan (March 22) and Togo (March 25), as part of the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Edouard Mendy underwent hand surgery last week. His immediate return to the pitch had just reassured Pape Thiaw. Unfortunately, this new injury adds to the concerns of the Senegalese coach, who is already dealing with the injuries of Iliman Ndiaye, Nicolas Jackson, and Habib Diarra.
