Algeria's number one hospitalized: Luca Zidane suffers severe head injury in Spain
Granada goalkeeper Luca Zidane was taken to hospital on Sunday 26 April after suffering a serious head injury during a Spanish Segunda División match raising fresh concerns for the Algeria national team ahead of upcoming international commitments.
Heavy collision forces early exit
Zidane, Algeria’s current first-choice goalkeeper was forced off after a strong collision with an opposing player during the match.
The impact left him on the ground for several minutes, visibly shaken and struggling with dizziness before receiving medical attention.
The 26 year old was eventually helped off the pitch and transported to hospital for further evaluation.
Initial diagnosis confirms concussion
According to early medical reports, Zidane is suffering from a head concussion which explains the immediate decision to place him under close medical supervision.
Granada head coach José Martín confirmed the situation in comments to Spanish outlet "Ideal".
“Luca Zidane remains under medical observation and will undergo further tests in the coming hours.. He is still experiencing dizziness and pain in the head. We will know more about his condition in the coming days” he said.
