Antonio Conte considered by Manchester United
Manchester United have reportedly started considering their options in the event of a change in the dugout. According to Corriere della Sera, Antonio Conte is currently the leading candidate being considered to replace Michael Carrick, whose team have taken just four points from their first four Premier League matches.
Michael Carrick must turn things around
Appointed permanent manager after serving as interim boss last season, Carrick had raised many hopes surrounding the Manchester project. But the results achieved since the start of the 2026-2027 campaign have fallen well short of expectations.

The defeat to Manchester City in the derby has notably heightened questions over his future. The Englishman nevertheless remains under contract until 2028, with an additional year as an option, and no decision to replace him has been made at this stage.
Conte wants an ambitious project
Available since leaving Naples at the end of the previous season, Conte is now among the most experienced managers on the market. Corriere della Sera claims that Manchester United would place him at the top of their list if they part ways with Carrick.
The Italian manager is also reportedly being monitored by Fenerbahçe, but this option would not particularly appeal to him. Conte is instead said to be waiting for an offer from a club capable of providing him with an ambitious project.
