Argentina: Luka Modric pays tribute to Lionel Messi
After his strong words about Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric spoke about Lionel Messi. It was an opportunity to pay tribute to the Argentine legend.
Clearly, among Ballon d'Or winners, respect is always present. We witnessed another illustration of that on Tuesday evening before Lionel Messi's final match (39 years old, 208 caps and 126 goals) in Argentina colours against Benin (3-0). The game featured a heartfelt tribute from Luka Modric (41 years old, 204 caps and 30 goals).
"Leo has achieved something incredible with the national team; he won the World Cup he wanted so much, and he is one of the best players in the world. It was a pleasure to watch him play, even though I suffered a lot against him, both with the national team and at Real Madrid," Luka Modric said in the mixed zone.
