Arsenal are already preparing for the winter transfer window and have reportedly identified Álex Baena as a potential target. According to several media outlets, the London club are once again interested in the Spain international, who is currently under contract with Atlético de Madrid.

Arsenal renew their interest

Aged 25, Baena had already been monitored by Arsenal in 2024, before leaving Villarreal for Atlético. The London club's hierarchy are now reportedly considering making another approach ahead of the next transfer window. Capable of playing on the wings as well as through the middle, the player would fit the profile Mikel Arteta is seeking to strengthen his attacking options.

The Gunners would not be alone in the race, however. Manchester City and Bayern Munich have reportedly expressed interest, while Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also reportedly added the Spaniard to their lists of potential targets.

Atlético do not want to lose an important player

Signed by the Madrid club from Villarreal, Baena is under contract with Atlético until 2030. Diego Simeone appreciates his profile and considers him an important member of his squad. Baena has also made an impressive start to the season, with five goals and two assists in nine appearances.

Arsenal will therefore have to convince the Madrid hierarchy to negotiate, as no official offer has been announced. For now, the Gunners' interest remains a transfer possibility rather than an imminent move.
