Arsenal: the big salary Declan Rice is set to earn
Under contract until 2028, Declan Rice is closing in on a new deal with Arsenal, who want to make him one of their highest-paid players.
Arsenal are continuing their policy of securing the futures of their key players. Just hours after officially announcing Mikel Arteta’s contract extension until 2030, the London club are now making progress on another major piece of business: Declan Rice’s future.
According to BBC, the England international midfielder is in talks with the Gunners over an extension to his contract, which currently runs until June 2028. An agreement is reportedly close between the various parties.
Salary set to rise to £350,000 a week
Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a considerable financial effort to retain one of the pillars of their project. Rice currently earns around £240,000 a week, but his new contract could take that figure to almost £350,000 per week.
The pay rise would put the 27-year-old among the highest earners in the squad. Talks over his contract extension had already progressed in recent weeks, and Arsenal now want to finalise the deal quickly.
Already 165 appearances in an Arsenal shirt
Having arrived from West Ham in the summer of 2023 for more than £100 million, Rice quickly became indispensable in midfield. He has now made 165 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, underlining his importance and consistency since his arrival.
Having won the English title last season, he remains one of the key figures in a team still challenging for top honours in the Premier League and the Champions League. After Arteta, Arsenal therefore want to tie down another cornerstone of their project.
