Arsenal wants to sign the new Kvaratskhelia
Arsenal is ramping up its pursuit of Andria Bartishvili, the talented 17-year-old Georgian winger. The English club has reportedly already made a pre-contract offer in a bid to secure his signature.
A highly sought-after Georgian talent
Andria Bartishvili is currently on loan at Iberia 1999, but still belongs to FC Kolkheti-1913 Poti. Arsenal had already opened talks to sign him back in June. According to the BBC, the Gunners have now accelerated negotiations and want to bring the young player to London at the end of the year, when his contract with Kolkheti expires.
The Georgian U21 international, capped twice, has already drawn comparisons to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the winger for Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool and Juventus also interested
Arsenal, however, is not alone in the race. Several European clubs are also monitoring the young Georgian's situation closely. Liverpool and Juventus are among those interested. For now, Bartishvili has yet to make a decision regarding his future.
The Kvaratskhelia comparison should, of course, be made with caution: Bartishvili is still only 17 and has yet to prove himself at the top level. But his profile fits perfectly with Arsenal's strategy: to recruit high-potential youngsters early and gradually integrate them into the London project. Now, the challenge is to convince the player amid stiff competition from Liverpool and Juventus.
