Aston Villa appear to be inquiring about the status of Spaniard Ilaix Moriba!

For several months now, Aston Villa have been keeping a close eye on Ilaix Moriba. As the summer transfer window approaches, the English club appears ready to step up their interest. According to Abel Morrazzo, Villa have now emerged as the most serious contender to secure the services of the Guinean midfielder.

Villans head coach Unai Emery is said to have personally observed the player at the Mestalla Stadium during Valencia's recent match against Celta Vigo. Impressed by Moriba's physical attributes and his ability to drive forward, the Spanish tactician reportedly sees him as an intriguing option to add depth and energy to his midfield.

Over at Celta Vigo, financial realities could prove decisive. The Galician side made a financial effort to sign Moriba on a permanent basis last summer, but they may now be forced to part ways with him in order to balance the books.

On the sporting front, the 23-year-old has just completed a solid season, making 42 appearances across all competitions and recording one goal and three assists. Under contract with Celta until June 2029, he is currently valued by Transfermarkt at around €10 million. That relatively modest fee could well convince Aston Villa to accelerate their pursuit and make a move for the midfielder.
