Atlético Madrid: Julián Alvarez ruled out against Malaga in LaLiga
The Julián Alvarez saga at Atlético Madrid seems never-ending. FC Barcelona are still pushing hard to sign the Argentine forward. Facing the press, Diego Simeone delivered some disappointing news.
Speaking at this afternoon’s press conference, Atlético Madrid’s coach Diego Simeone reiterated that nothing had changed regarding Julián Alvarez. Simeone confirmed that Alvarez will not be available for tomorrow’s Matchday 2 clash in LaLiga against Malaga.
"I still think the same way. I focus on the sporting side of things. We discuss it as we always do. From a footballing perspective, we need more training sessions with him to get him back to his best. He’s one of the best players, maybe even the best. If the club owner has spoken clearly, I don’t think there’s anything more to add. It’s like when you go to court—there’s nothing more to say. We’re taking care of the man and the player. We understand he’s not fit to play this match (against Malaga). I’ve always shown great respect in every situation we’ve faced… Griezmann, Diego Costa, and now Julián. I fully respect all opinions people may have," he explained during the press conference.
