Bafana Bafana coach admits his mistake about Kaizer Chiefs players!
No player from Amakhosi joined the Belgian coach's list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho, so Hugo Broos received a lot of criticism from Bafana Bafana and Amakhosi fans for not calling any player from the Glamour Boys for two months in a row in these qualifiers.
When asked why, the 72-year-old told the media that the reason was that the players from Amakhosi did not agree with the coach's plans and that they were not good enough to take over this responsibility.
"You can’t tell already that Chiefs is back, I thought so maybe in the beginning of the season but then I don’t know what happened and still they are struggling, When I see them play yesterday against Cape Town, you can’t say that everything is alright in that team"
Broos stands by his decision: he will not call up Amakhosi players for the time being!
When the team will be better, or when players will be better, surely, surely I will call up the players from Chiefs. But for the moment I don’t think I have to call them, They are really struggling again in the league and let’s hope, not only for Chiefs, but for all South African football, that next season we have again that big team, that big club that struggles and fights for the championship.
Hugo Broos concluded.
