Bafana defender set to complete move to MLS
Bafana Bafana defender Tylon Smith is set to join Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit New England Revolution according to English outlet West London Sport.
The 21-year-old centre-half will sign in on a season-long loan from English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR), with an option to buy.
He completed a move to QPR from Betway Premiership club Stellenbosch FC in July 2025 after winning the U20 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) with Amajita.
Smith played a total of seven matches across all competitions last season, with three of the appearances coming in the Premier League Cup for the reserves.
The Stellies youth product was part of the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, albeit was an unused substitute.
Now, he is set for a new chapter in the United States of America, where compatriots Puso Dithejane and Mbekezeli Mbokazi currently ply their trade.
Notably, he still has a long-term contract with QPR, having put pen to paper on a four-year deal upon his arrival in England.
Whether New England Revolution will trigger the option to make the South Africa international's move permanent remains to be seen.
