Bekrar now ranks as the tenth most expensive transfer in the Egyptian Premier League, pushing his new teammate, Imam Ashour—who joined Al Ahly from Denmark's Midtjylland in 2023 for €2.68 million—down a spot.

Who is Mounsef Bekrar?

The Desert Warrior began his football career at Saleh Bay club before moving on to MC El Eulma.

He then transferred to the renowned ES Sétif, where he was promoted to the first team in 2021 at just 20 years old.

Bekrar played 51 matches for the Eagles across all competitions, tallying 13 goal contributions—both goals and assists.

He left Algeria in 2022 for Croatian side Istra, making 33 appearances, scoring 8 goals, and providing 3 assists.

In 2023, he signed with New York City FC in the United States, featuring in 70 matches and netting 10 goals, although he didn't register any assists.

Last season, he played for Dinamo Zagreb, who acquired him for €1 million, and he appeared in 42 matches, contributing to 25 goals through scoring and assists.
