Bamo Meïté will return to Marseille, but not for long. Loaned out to Montpellier during the last winter transfer window, the 23-year-old Ivorian center-back is not expected to wear the Olympian jersey again.

According to La Provence, Olympique de Marseille is already considering sending him out on loan again. Two clubs have shown interest: AJ Auxerre, recently promoted and looking strong, and FC Lorient, back in Ligue 1. Both sides are looking to bolster their defense with a young, athletic, and experienced profile.

Signed by OM in 2023 from Lorient for around €12 million, Bamo Meïté failed to make an impression during his first months at the club. Seldom used, he tried to revive his career at Montpellier, making 10 Ligue 1 appearances. Under contract with Marseille until 2028, the Ivory Coast U23 international still has plenty to offer. Strong in duels and comfortable building from the back, he retains solid market value. But at OM, the competition is fierce.
