Barça: Marc Bernal close to signing a contract extension

Marc Bernal is on the verge of reaching a new agreement with FC Barcelona. According to journalist Nicolò Schira, the 19-year-old midfielder is close to extending his contract with the Catalan club, with a new deal potentially running until June 2031.

Bernal takes a leap forward at Barcelona

Integrated into the first-team squad since the summer of 2024, Bernal has truly broken through this season. The young midfielder has featured in 22 La Liga matches, including 9 starts, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist. Under contract with Barça until 2029, he quickly caught the eye of several top European clubs.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Atlético Madrid have all been linked with his name in recent months. A Spanish international, Bernal also has one cap with the senior national team.

Barça determined to lock down their young talent

This potential extension through 2031 would allow Barcelona to secure the future of a player seen as one of the most promising young stars on their roster. The timing couldn't be better, as Barça has just wrapped up the season as La Liga champions.

The next step will be for him to turn this progress into a regular starting role. If Marc Bernal continues to impress this season, his extension through 2031 could soon be seen as a major strategic move for FC Barcelona.
