FC Barcelona secured a 1-1 draw on Newcastle United's turf in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16. The match was marked by the substitution of Marc Bernal in the 73rd minute, replaced by Marc Casadó.

The 18-year-old midfielder lay down on the pitch before making way, causing concern among the Catalan camp. In the end, the situation turned out to be less serious than expected. Upon leaving the stadium, Bernal reassured journalists by explaining that he was not injured. "Everything is fine. It's just a minor muscle strain," he said, noting that he came off mainly due to fatigue and cramps.

In the match, Harvey Barnes opened the scoring for Newcastle in the 86th minute, before Lamine Yamal equalized for Hansi Flick's men in stoppage time from the penalty spot.
