With their spending power severely restricted by La Liga's financial regulations, Barcelona are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for affordable squad upgrades. And in an unexpected twist, the Catalan club have set their sights on a player who could offer serious value without breaking the bank—Girona's Ukrainian winger, Viktor Tsygankov.

At 28, Tsygankov has emerged as a serious candidate on the Blaugrana's radar, according to sources close to the club. The board reportedly view him as a shrewd, low-cost signing that would allow the team to allocate remaining resources toward other marquee targets. His appeal goes beyond mere economics, though.

Head coach Hansi Flick is said to be particularly drawn to the Ukrainian's adaptability and unselfish mentality. Unlike many players of his caliber, Tsygankov is not known for demanding guaranteed minutes—a trait that fits perfectly into Flick's rotation-heavy system. More importantly, his tactical flexibility is a major asset: he can operate effectively on either wing, step into the creative midfield role, or even lead the line as a false striker—a position he has mastered during his time under Míchel at Girona.

The writing appears to be on the wall for Tsygankov's future at Girona. With the club's recent drop to Spain's second tier, the player has already informed the hierarchy that he considers his time with the team concluded. Thanks to a previously established verbal understanding between both parties, he is now in a position to walk away for nothing, making him one of the most attractive free agents available this summer.
