Barcelona: Atletico Madrid wants to file a formal complaint against Barcelona regarding the transfer of Julian Alvarez!
Julian Alvarez set Europe ablaze after the Austria-Argentina match on Monday evening in the second round of the 2026 World Cup, which ended with a 2-0 victory for the Argentinian team.
The 26-year-old Atletico Madrid striker addressed the media after the match, expressing his clear desire to leave Atletico Madrid this summer after the World Cup and that he wants to fulfill his dream elsewhere, which some considered an official and explicit statement from the player that he wants to join Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid apparently did not approve of the player's statements to the media, and the first reaction from the Madrid club was that it wanted to file an official complaint against Barcelona through FIFA because Barcelona was negotiating with a player who was still under an official contract with Atletico Madrid.
“It is our duty to defend Atlético’s interests, and that is why we are going to file a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona for negotiating with a player under contract during the protected period.”
Atlético Madrid's statement.
Atletico Madrid are angry because Barcelona are negotiating with the player without the permission of the club with which Julian Alvarez is under contract.
