Barcelona Postpones Match Against Osasuna After Sudden Death of Team Doctor
Barcelona's announced the postponement of their scheduled La Liga fixture against Osasuna following the sudden passing of team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia on Saturday.

“With deep sorrow, FC Barcelona announces the passing of first team doctor Carles Miñarro García this evening. As result, the match against Osasuna has been postponed to later date” the club confirmed via social media platform X.
Circumstances Surrounding His Death
According to media reports, Minarro passed away unexpectedly at the team's hotel before the scheduled kickoff. Further details regarding the cause of death haven't been disclosed.
Who Was Carles Minarro?
Dr Minarro who passed away at the age of 40 had been associated with barcelona since 2017. Before joining the 1st team, he worked for 6 year as assistant physician in the sports assistance and prevention unit at the alt rendiment de sant cugat center.
He also served as head of medical services at d'esports Sabadell and previously worked with Barcelona’s futsal team.
His Role with Barcelona’s 1st Team
This season, Miñarro became key figure in Barcelona’s senior squad after being chosen by head coach Hansi Flick to replace Dr Xavier Valle who had served the club for 20 years.
He worked closely with the team’s medical staff, alongside Dr Ricard Pruna and was known for his strong bond with the players, often sharing the dressing room and overseeing injury evaluations during matches.
