Basel FC confirms the departure of Bénie Traoré

It's now official. Bénie Traoré is leaving FC Basel to join New York City FC in Major League Soccer.

At 23, the dynamic winger has signed a contract through summer 2030, with an option for an additional year. Having arrived in Basel in 2024 from Sheffield United, Traoré found the net 11 times and provided 5 assists in 39 matches this season.

Excited for this new challenge, he stated that the club’s style of play, ambition, and the trust placed in him were key factors in his decision. He is eager to help his new team reach its goals and compete for silverware.
