Bayer Leverkusen has found the successor to Kasper Hjulmand. The German club has officially announced the arrival of Carles Martínez Novell, the 42-year-old Spanish tactician who leaves Toulouse to take on a new challenge in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen has officially turned a new page in its history. The German side announced the appointment of Spanish coach Carles Martínez Novell, who takes over from Kasper Hjulmand after a season that ended with a sixth-place finish in the Bundesliga.

The former Toulouse manager, aged 42, has signed a two-year deal with the Werkself. Renowned for his attacking football and his ability to develop young talent, he convinced the German leadership after careful consideration.
"We thought long and hard about which coach would best fit the next phase of Bayer 04's development," said sporting director Simon Rolfes.
Rolfes also praised the Spaniard’s work in Ligue 1:
"Carles Martínez managed to develop many young players at Toulouse and built a united international squad."
He added:
"Carles is a coach with clear principles and a modern footballing philosophy. We are convinced he will provide the impetus our sporting future needs."
A major challenge now awaits the Catalan on the Leverkusen bench.
