Bayer Leverkusen: Arsène Kouassi is the top priority after Grimaldo’s departure

Bayer Leverkusen has made Arsène Kouassi its main priority to fill the void left by Alejandro Grimaldo. With the Spaniard now on the verge of joining Atlético Madrid, the German club is seeking to fill the gap on the left flank with the Burkina Faso international.

The German daily Kicker broke the news. Bayer Leverkusen wants to sign Arsène Kouassi as a direct replacement for Grimaldo, who is on the brink of moving to Atlético Madrid.

Arsène Kouassi delivered a sensational season in Ligue 1 last year. He featured in 31 matches, netted 3 goals and provided 6 assists, earning the title of the league’s best emerging talent.

The 23-year-old Burkinabe has turned heads with his relentless runs, powerful crosses, and imposing physical presence. He is under contract until 2029, and his value is estimated at around €20 million by Lorient FC.

Foot Mercato reported back in early April that Kouassi was being monitored by six clubs, including Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Genoa, Roma, and Bayer Leverkusen. Now, the path appears increasingly clear for the Burkinabe star to join the German side.
