Bayern Munich: Kompany’s thoughtful message to Musiala
Set back by another injury, Jamal Musiala will be rested by Bayern, while Vincent Kompany sent him a strong message.
Jamal Musiala’s start to the season continues to be disrupted. Already hampered by several physical problems in recent weeks, the Bayern Munich attacking midfielder had just returned to competition when another setback put the brakes on his comeback.
Called up by Germany, the 23-year-old injured his thigh muscles during a warm-up with the national team. The immediate consequence: Musiala will not travel with Bayern to Augsburg, with the match scheduled for this Saturday in the Bundesliga.
Kompany wants to protect Musiala
Given the accumulation of physical setbacks, Vincent Kompany intends to manage his player with the utmost caution. Speaking at a press conference on Friday morning, the Belgian coach was keen to support his attacking midfielder, having himself become accustomed to injuries during his playing career.
“I completely understand what he says about setbacks. I experienced that myself on many occasions during my career. Being able to bounce back after a setback is a strength.”
Above all, Kompany hopes that Musiala will soon be able to regain consistency and the joy of playing.
“I hope he can enjoy playing football again in the years to come. But when you make a strong comeback, it is something that stays with you for the rest of your life.”
“The whole team is delighted every time he scores”
The Bavarian coach also stressed the young German’s importance to his squad.
“The whole team is delighted every time he scores a goal. He will undoubtedly continue to score.”
Bayern will therefore take no risks with Musiala. After a start to the campaign already marked by several interruptions, the objective is now to allow him to make a lasting return without rushing his recovery.
