Determined to keep Michael Olise, Bayern Munich is nevertheless working on his potential succession and has already identified another French national team star.

Bayern Munich is refusing to consider letting Michael Olise leave this summer. However, the Bavarian management is already beginning to prepare for the future in light of ongoing interest from Real Madrid.

At 24, the French international has become one of Europe's top attacking talents. Since his arrival in Germany, he has racked up 42 goals and 54 assists in 107 matches. In the 2025-2026 season alone, he tallied 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 appearances before finishing as the top assist provider at the World Cup.

A succession plan already in motion

Under contract until June 2029, Michael Olise is reportedly keen to join Real Madrid. His chemistry with Kylian Mbappé during the World Cup is said to have only strengthened his attraction to Los Blancos.

Bayern still hopes to extend their winger's stay and could offer him a major salary upgrade. For negotiations to start as early as this summer, Real Madrid would need to come forward with an exceptional offer, with figures being discussed in the €150–200 million range.

However, according to Bild, the Munich hierarchy has already pinpointed Bradley Barcola as their top priority should Olise depart. Bayern's interest in the Parisian winger isn't new, but the player's contractual situation could make this target more attainable in the medium term.

A move mainly considered for 2027

Barcola is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028, and no extension has yet been announced. If he declines to renew, PSG would find themselves under pressure in the summer of 2027, when their forward enters the final year of his deal.

Bayern could then try to negotiate a fee below the €150 million currently demanded by Paris. This strategy would allow the German club to keep Olise for one more season while preparing for his succession.

Barcola's profile, however, differs from the Bavarian's. More comfortable on the left flank, the Parisian would bring more depth and directness, whereas Olise operates on the right or through the center and is more involved in build-up play. His arrival would therefore require an offensive reshuffle rather than a simple like-for-like replacement.

For now, this scenario remains hypothetical. Nevertheless, Bayern is covering its bases in a saga that could shake up the next two transfer windows.
