After suffering from a respiratory infection at the start of the competition, Jérémy Doku missed several matches. When he did play, it was clear he wasn't being used to the best of his abilities. In a recent interview, the Manchester City winger openly criticized how Rudi Garcia managed his positioning on the pitch.

"When I look back at the match against Egypt or plenty of other games, I wasn't always put in the best circumstances. On top of the injury, I sometimes played on the right, or even up front against Egypt. I think those decisions weren't the best. I wasn't put in optimal conditions. Especially since everyone knows that I'm at my best on the left. There's no need to start inventing things. That also bothered me at times and didn't help either. But in the end, in this World Cup, we reached the quarter-finals. That's a success for the team," he told PlaySports.
