The future of Kevin De Bruyne with Belgium is still up in the air. While the Red Devils are through to the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, his father Herwig De Bruyne has shed some light on his situation.

According to him, the Napoli player will only extend his international career if he still feels fit and able to help the team. At 35, the midfielder has already suffered several injuries, and his body is starting to feel the toll of many years at the top level:

He has suffered two serious injuries at the age of 35. He has now fully recovered, but it's clear that his body has endured the effects of eighteen years of professional football. It's his choice. If he feels he can still contribute, he'll continue. If not, he'll step away himself.

With 123 caps, Kevin De Bruyne is one of the most iconic figures in Belgian football history. This 2026 World Cup could well be his last.
