This Monday evening, France face Belgium in the Nations League. Les Bleus will have to beat Belgium if they want to draw level with the number of wins in head-to-head meetings between the two national teams.

The two countries played their first match 122 years ago. It was a friendly held in Uccle in front of 1,500 onlookers. More than a century later, the two national teams continue to maintain a sporting rivalry. The two sides have faced each other 78 times to date.

Belgium hold a narrow advantage, with the record standing at 30 Belgian wins, 19 draws and 29 French victories. They are therefore France's oldest and most frequent opponents, as no other country has been faced as many times. The Red Devils can thus boast the historical upper hand over Les Bleus, as well as the biggest victory, having won 7-0 in May 1905.
