Best African player 2025: Achraf Hakimi's words after his victory

Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco national team full-back Achraf Hakimi expressed his joy after being named the best player on the African continent for 2025.

Hakimi stated in a message posted on his social media accounts: “A recognition that crowns years of hard work, success, and unforgettable moments.”

Hakimi after his triumph: “I hope to inspire every child on our continent!”

He added: “My gratitude goes to my family, my teammates, and everyone who works with me every day, on and off the field. Your trust, dedication, and support make me stronger and allow me to grow.”

He continued: "Thank you to all the Moroccan people for always standing behind me."

And he concluded: “I hope this moment inspires every child in our country and across our continent to believe in their dreams and fight for them.”

Achraf Hakimi thus becomes the fifth Moroccan player to win this prestigious trophy, following Ahmed Faras, Morocco’s all-time top scorer (1976), “The Black Pearl” Mohamed Timoumi (1985), former Atlas Lions goalkeeper Badou Zaki (1986), and former Morocco international Mustapha Hadji (1998).
