According to Jota Jordi, Atlético Madrid and Arsenal have struck a deal for the forward's transfer. The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a package worth €50 million plus Viktor Gyökeres heading the other way. However, Arsenal have yet to reach an agreement with Álvarez on personal terms, as the player is reportedly set on joining Barcelona and is insisting that Atlético honor a prior promise made to him.

In the meantime, Arsenal have revived talks regarding a potential move for Athletic Club and Spain winger Nico Williams.
