French media reports on Monday evening have revealed that the Ivorian Football Federation has settled on appointing French coach Hervé Renard as the new head coach of the Ivory Coast senior national team.

Renard prepares for a second spell with Ivory Coast

According to French newspaper "Le Parisien" on its official website, the formal announcement could be made within the next 48 hours.

Renard will succeed Ivorian coach Emerse Faé, who stepped down from his role despite leading the "Elephants" to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations title and guiding them to the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup—a historic first for the national team.

The French tactician, nicknamed "the Fox," boasts an impressive record on the African continent, having won the Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia in 2012 before steering Ivory Coast to continental glory in 2015.

During his first tenure with the "Elephants" from July 2014 to May 2015, Hervé Renard managed the national team in 18 matches, securing 9 wins, 5 draws, and suffering just 4 defeats.

It's worth noting that Renard had attracted interest from several national teams, most notably Algeria, South Africa, and South Korea, before his return to the Ivory Coast became the most likely option.
