BREAKING: Stellenbosch announce shock Njabulo Blom signing

Betway Premiership side Stellenbosch FC have announced the shock signing of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom, with the deal concluded before deadline day.

The 26-year-old utility player joins the Cape Winelands outfit on a season-long loan from Indonesian Super League club Borneo Samarinda.

He signed for the Indonesian team on a free transfer in July after he was released by Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC of Vietnam in May, alongside compatriot Percy Tau.

Blom has had a tough spell since completing a move from Chiefs to St.Louis City in the Major League Soccer (MLS), and is now set for a fresh chapter in a familiar territory.

“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Njabulo Blom on a season-long loan from Indonesian Super League side Borneo Samarinda,” read the club statement.

"Formalities were concluded ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, and the twice-capped Bafana Bafana midfielder has since arrived in Stellenbosch where he will spend the remainder of the season plying his trade for the Maroons.

"Blom arrives in the Winelands with domestic and international experience to his name, having previously enjoyed two spells with Kaizer Chiefs, either side of a stint abroad with Major League Soccer outfit St. Louis City in the United States of America.

"The 26-year-old will wear the No.35 jersey this season and could be in line to make his debut against his former side when Stellenbosch take on Chiefs in a league encounter on Saturday, 17 October 2026.

Stellies, meanwhile, currently sit seventh in the Betway Premiership standings, having accumulated nine points from their first seven fixtures of the 2026/27 campaign.
