CAF confirms key dates for 2026/27 season
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the key dates for the inter-club competitions ahead of the highly-anticipated 2026/27 season.
South Africa will once again be represented by heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League.
The Brazilians return to Africa's elite club competition as defending champions having pipped Moroccan side AS FAR to the continental title last season.
Pirates, on the other hand, sealed their spot after clinching the elusive Betway Premiership title in the previous campaign, ending a 14-year drought for league glory.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs return to the CAF Confederation Cup following an impressive third-place finish with 54 points in the Betway Premiership last term.
Durban City complete the South African representatives in the Confed Cup as they qualified by virtue of beating TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup final in May.
With both competitions set to commence with the first preliminary round, Sundowns will be afforded a free pass to the second round, owing to their strong CAF ranking.
The CAF inter-club competitions will kickstart on 04 September with the first round that will run until 13 September, as per CAF's website.
CAF Dates:
First Preliminary Round: 04 September - 13 September
Second Preliminary Round: 16 October - 25 October
Group Stages: 27 November & 28 November
